Preparing Liege waffles


Thick liège waffles with pieces of caramel-the invention of the court chef. For the preparation of this delicacy need a waffle maker with large cells for baking bulk wafers.


Flour-400 g,
Milk-150 ml,
Eggs – 2 PCs.,
Butter-200 g,

Preparing Liege waffles

Powdered sugar-100 g,
Sugar lump (not refined) — 100 g,
Dry yeast – 1,5 tsp,
Vanilla sugar-10 g,
Salt — on the tip of the knife,
Vegetable oil-to lubricate the waffle iron.


Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance to soften it. Warm 50 ml of milk, put yeast in it, stir and leave for 10-15 minutes until a characteristic foam is formed. In the remaining 100 ml of milk, dissolve the salt and sugar powder, add the eggs and beat all with a mixer or whisk.

Mash the flour with butter, pour in yeast and milk-egg mixture, mix thoroughly to avoid lumps. Lump sugar chop into small pieces, gently enter into the dough, mix. Cover the container with a towel and put in a warm place for 30-40 minutes.

Divide the dough into 12-14 balls, vegetate them between your palms. Lubricate the heated waffle iron with vegetable oil. Put each ball between hot surfaces and bake for 2-3 minutes. Serve Liege waffles warm or cold.
